Lei Fang, a member of Sutherland's Intellectual Property Practice Group, has particular focus on the areas of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and life sciences. She has extensive scientific and technical experience in neuroscience and molecular pharmacology and toxicology. Lei is also active in the Georgia-China Alliance and serves on the Board of Directors and as Legal Counsel for the Zhejiang Association of Georgia. In addition, Lei acts as Legal Consultant for the Chinese American Professor Association and is acting Legal Counsel for the Asian American Culture and Art Association (AACAA).

Ann Fort, a member of Sutherland's Intellectual Property Practice Group and a seasoned litigator involved in complex civil matters, has protected the intellectual property rights of numerous clients in the United States and abroad. Her comprehensive experience encompasses patent infringement, licensing disputes, trade secret protection and unfair competition. In addition to trying cases in both federal and state courts, Ann works toward alternative dispute resolution, when feasible, and has represented clients in arbitrations and mediations.

George Fu is the Managing Partner of Watson & Band Law Offices in Shanghai and an Arbitrator of Shanghai Arbitration Commission. Before he went into private practice, he was a Presiding Judge of the Shanghai High People’s Court with 14 years of experience in intellectual property and commercial-related civil matters. Before establishing his own law practice in 1999, he also worked for several law offices in the United States and represented many multi-national companies and local Chinese companies in IP litigation in China.

Ed Kallal, a member of Sutherland's Corporate Practice Group, has represented both buyers and sellers in a variety of business combination transactions, including asset acquisitions, stock acquisitions and mergers, and has represented both borrowers and lenders in secured and unsecured loan transactions. Ed has represented a number of U.S.-based clients in the negotiation of joint venture arrangements with foreign companies, including companies from Canada, France, Ireland, Mexico, Russia, Singapore and Sweden. These have included arrangements to jointly manufacture in the U.S. and abroad, strategic partnering and the operation of non-manufacturing establishments abroad.

David Langlois, a member of Sutherland’s Litigation Practice Group and the firm’s Energy and Environmental Practice Group, focuses on complex commercial litigation and arbitration of disputes primarily involving international trading institutions, energy companies and clients that finance international trading companies, as well as complex commercial litigation. He has represented commodity trading concerns primarily in oil, oil products and energy since the early 1970s; has represented clients in litigation throughout the country; and has assisted with litigations in foreign countries involving trading disputes, contract, insurance, admiralty, customs, banking, regulatory and related matters.

A graduate of Tsinghua University with master degree in optical engineering, Jingshu Lv is a member of Watson & Band’s Intellectual Property Practice Group and chair of the Electronics team. She engages mainly in domestic and overseas patent application, such as checking and approving patent application documents for foreign applications into China, drafting application documents for domestic applications, commenting on as well as responding to the Office Action by the Patent Office, and has handled a plurality of patent applications in various fields for many clients, such as Information process apparatus and process method, Image forming apparatus and method, Mobile telecommunication system and method, computer network, and Optical system and apparatus. In addition, she is also familiar with the procedure of patent invalidation and the patent infringement, and the patent search in such technical fields. Jim McGibbon, a member of Sutherland’s Litigation Practice Group, focuses on the areas of antitrust, health care and franchise law. He has a wide range of antitrust litigation and advisory experience in issues relating to pricing, mergers, joint ventures, product distribution and monopolization. Some of Jim's representative matters include serving as lead U.S. antitrust counsel for British Nuclear Fuel Plc in its $5.4 billion sale of Westinghouse to Toshiba Corporation and representing the national oil company of Norway in a dispute over the international reach of U.S. antitrust laws.

 

Carla Wong McMillian, a member of Sutherland's Litigation Practice Group, focuses her practice in the areas of franchise and dealer litigation and counseling, accountants’ and professional liability defense, and other complex business litigation. She has represented automobile and motorcycle manufacturers nationwide in state and federal court litigation and state administrative proceedings in terminations, relocations, add points, and warranty reimbursement matters. Carla is a member of the Georgia Asian Pacific American Bar Association and the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association.

Aimin Sun serves as senior Of Counsel at Watson & Band. Before joining the firm, he was the vice director-general of the Intellectual Property Division of Shanghai No.1 Intermediate People’s Court. Now, he is also the arbitrator of the Shanghai Arbitration Commission and the guest researcher of Fudan University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Aimin is experienced in judgment of civil and intellectual property cases, and he edited and co-wrote many books such as Taking about Intellectual Property by Judges and Precedent Selections of Intellectual Property Cases, among others.

Yong Tu, a member of Watson & Band’s Intellectual Property Practice Group and chair of the Integrative Management team, graduated from East China University of Science and Technology with a B.S. in Polymer Material and Engineering. His practice focuses mainly on checking and approving patent application documents for foreign applications into China, drafting application documents for domestic applications, commenting on, as well as responding to, the Office Action by the Patent Office. His practice also covers making comparison analysis and giving professional advice on invalidation and prosecution. Yong is familiar with procedures of patent applications and is extremely skilled at working in English. His technical areas of experience cover polymers, inorganic non-metallic material, composite material and semiconductors, pharmaceutical, medical equipment, biochemistry and life sciences.

Yali Xu entered Shanghai High People’s Court in 1983, acting as the judge of Civil Division and Administrative Division. In 1994, she was transferred to Shanghai Pudong New Area People’s Court and was appointed as the director-general of the Intellectual Property Division. Now, she is senior Of Counsel at Watson & Band. In addition, she is an arbitrator of Shanghai Arbitration Commission and the Director of the National Intellectual Property Committee. Yali is experienced in judgment of administrative, intellectual property, civil and commercial cases. Some cases judged by her are included in Precedent Collection of the P.R.C compiled by the Supreme People’s Court.

Now, she is also an arbitrator of the Shanghai Arbitration Commission. Jianmin is experienced in judgment of economic, financial, criminal and future cases in trial of first, second instance and trial supervision. Some cases judged by her are included in Precedent Collection of the P.R.C compiled by the Supreme People’s Court.

Liming Zhang is a member of Watson & Band’s Intellectual Property Practice Group and chair of the Trademark Team. His practice covers a wide range of trademark, patent and copyright issues, including prosecution and litigation, as well as providing legal opinion. He is well experienced in patent invalidation, patent administrative litigation, providing legal analysis on patent infringement and other IP matters. His particular experience lies in design patent invalidation and infringement litigation. He has represented many multinational companies in design cases.
